Our summer family vacation was to Topsail Island in North Carolina. We were meeting up with friends so we needed a house that was big enough to hold us all. I searched Airbnb with specific parameters and the top suggestion of High Tide Hideaway is what we ended up renting.
This great surf city beach house is run by super host Ed. He is very nice and helpful.

Top Topsail Rental on Airbnb
The High Tide Hideaway is a 3-story second-row house in the heart of Surf City. It is two blocks from the beach and overlooks a marsh and Intracoastal Waterway.
It is an elevated house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are masters with their own bathroom.
High Tide Hideaway Layout
When you arrive you park underneath the house. The keyless entry door leads to stairs that take you up to the second level. That level has three bedrooms. There is a large master with an ensuite. Another bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two sets of bunk beds.
The bunk and queen rooms share a cute pirate-themed bathroom. The queen and master share a large deck. The bunk room has its own small balcony.
Up the second set of stairs, you will find the common area and another master bedroom. The master is a little smaller than the downstairs master but the bathroom is much larger. This bathroom has a door to the common area as well as the bedroom. A washer and dryer are located in the closet in this large bathroom.
All of the bedrooms have large closets. I am not including more pictures of the bedrooms because you can see them on the Airbnb listing.
Common Area
The kitchen has a large island with three stools. The kitchen is very well stocked. It includes all sorts of cooking utensils, cookware, appliances, and dishware that you could need during your stay. One cabinet has spices, oil, and condiments.
A beautiful wood dining table seats eight. A sectional sofa and two chairs make up the living area. There is a coffee table and entertainment center with several games books and magazines.
Our favorite part of the house was the large deck on the top floor. It has a swing, three rocking chairs, and a picnic table. The view of the sound is wonderful, especially at sunset. We spent hours upon hours out rocking on the deck during our week-long stay.
House Capacity
We had five occupants in the house. It sleeps ten comfortably. Ten people in the living area could be a little tight, but when you include the deck area there is plenty of room.
Surf City Rental Near the Beach
The house is conveniently located by beach access 5, which is a popular spot due to the parking, playground, and ramp access over the dunes.
We saw two weddings and a sea turtle release event right at beach access 5. While the access is busy, we never felt that the beach was crowded.
We pulled our wagon back and forth to the beach each day, appreciating the crosswalk over Island Road (State Hwy 210).
There is a foot washing station and shower on the back side of the bathroom near the beach, however, we use the hose and the outdoor shower back at the hideaway house to wash up after visiting the beach.
We stored our beach gear in the outdoor closet, which includes some beach toys that were left over from previous renters.
The house is a few doors down from the Trailer Bar which has live music most nights, but they knock off at a reasonable time and are never too loud.

Topsail Island is a barrier island with two access bridges. Surf City stretches from the island across the sound to the mainland. Activities in the area include:

Topsail Island Beaches
The white powder sand beaches on the island are amazing. The water is shallow, which is great for little ones. The North Carolina beach is also good for:

- Collecting shells and shark teeth
- Fishing
- Flying a kite
- Getting a tan
- Walking or running

Each morning and some evenings we took long walks along the beach. We even checked out the Surf City Family Campground for our camping site.
Our Friday to Friday stay felt like paradise. This wonderful rental house was a big part of our amazing week!
