Here is a recipe for an amazing Pumpkin Chocolate Lava Cake that is so easy to make in a cast iron skillet.
Do you love pumpkin as much as I do? This time of year I have a one-track mind and it’s focused on pumpkin. I just can’t seem to get enough pumpkin. I typically like traditional pumpkin flavors, but I also like it with chocolate. Lava cake is a favorite of mine, so I decided to make this pumpkin chocolate lava cake.
My best lava cakes have been made in the dutch oven while camping. The cast iron dutch oven seems to work magic on food. I decided to make this cake in a cast iron skillet in our oven. I thought I was going to have to experiment with this recipe, but it worked quite well on the first try. That made me happy because I needed a dessert for a gathering with neighbors.
Pumpkin Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe
This cake is very simple to make. It’s a pumpkin cake base with a gooey chocolate middle. I used a Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® Perfectly Pumpkin Premium Cake Mix. I mixed it up with water, oil, and eggs according to the directions on the box. I poured that into my greased 12″ cast iron skillet. I made up a box of instant chocolate pudding and poured it over the middle of the cake batter and then sprinkled chocolate chips on top. How easy is that?
Doesn’t that cake look amazing? I loved the gooey warm chocolate. My neighbors really liked it.
