The long, hot days of summer are here, which means I don’t want to heat up the kitchen with the stove or oven. We make as many meals at possible out on our grill. This has gotten much easier since we got a large cast iron skillet. My favorite dinners to create are those that have all the ingredients in one pot. Enjoy this Kielbasa Cabbage Meal that has fruit, vegetables, and meat all in one skillet. Think of this as a German-inspired stir fry made on the grill.
Kielbasa Cabbage Skillet Recipe
2-3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
2-3 Cloves Garlic
2 packages Eckrich Polska Kielbasa Skinless Rope Smoked Sausage
Salt & Pepper
1-2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
Prepare your grill by heating the charcoal or turning the gas on.
Place a large cast iron skillet on the grate to heat up along with the grill.
Prepare the meal by chopping the ingredients.
Chop the cabbage into 1-2 inch pieces.
Peel the carrots and slice into thin discs.
Mince the garlic.
If using an actual onion, slice it into small pieces.
Cut the apple into small cubes or slices.
Cut the smoked sausage into small slices.
Once the grill and skillet are hot, begin cooking.
Pour the olive oil in the pan.
Add the garlic and onion and stir until they start to brown.
Add the sliced carrot to the skillet.
Dump the chopped cabbage into the pan and stir.
Add the apple to the skillet.
Shake the desired amount of salt and pepper over the dish.
When both the apple and cabbage have softened, add in the smoked sausage.

Serve the one-pan meal immediately.

How delicious and easy does that look? We like to make it on the grill when we camp too. It also tastes great make inside on a stove too. I personally love how it has so many healthy ingredients in one pan. It truly is a complete meal in one skillet. If there happen to be any leftovers, we reheat them for breakfast with an over easy egg on top. Yum!
