Here is a wedding gift I made and placed in a distressed frame.
We attended a wedding reception over the weekend. It was for a young couple that we’ve known for many years. They were friends from childhood who finally fell in love and married. They had a small intimate wedding on the beach in California last year, but their reception was here in their hometown. They just moved back to town last week to be close to family and friends.
I always like to make unique personalized gifts for people. Whether it be for a wedding, baby or birthday, I am not one to shop off a registry. I like handmade gifts. Since I have an embroidery machine I searched embroidered wedding gift and saw several Mr. & Mrs. things on burlap. I know that burlap is popular, but I am not a fan of working with it. I decided to embroider on linen instead. I wanted to frame the embroidery, but I wanted it to match. I ended up getting two second-hand gold frames and distressing it with an aqua chalk paint. The second frame is for a wedding photo.
Embroidered Distressed Frame Wedding Gift Set
I purchased an embroidery pattern that had Mr. and Mrs. along with Est. I used an aqua thread for the hearts to match their wedding colors. I added their last name and 2015 and stitched it all out. I love how it turned out.
I cleaned up the gold frames with window cleaner and then began applying the chalk paint. I used some sand paper to distress the frame between layers. I just love how the gold pops out on the frames. It gives it a cool look. I painted two layers of chalk paint before sealing it with a clear wax. It’s been very hot and humid lately, so I had to give the wax 48 hours to dry instead of 24. I love the feel of the frames.
I ironed out the embroidery and added it to the smaller frame. I love how the hearts match the frame. Isn’t it pretty?
I loved working with the chalk paint. I hope to do another project with it soon. Have you ever worked with it?
Best wishes to the happy couple!
