DIY Sewing Pattern Weights

A few weeks ago my Sewing Counter was featured at Craft Gossip. That got me to follow their Facebook page where I found this awesome pattern weight tutorial. It took me about 15 minutes to put together mine! That included the time to heat up the glue gun.

Supplies needed are a hot glue gun, large flat washers, and ribbon. The package of washer was under $3 at Menards.

Start by gluing 2 washers together. I put flat sides together.

Once glued they look like this.

Put some glue on one side and tightly wrap your ribbon around the washer. Add dots of glue every so often as you pull it tight. Super easy!

I decided to use different ribbon on each so they are colorful.

They are just perfect for holding a pattern in place while I cut. No more pinning!!!

  2. I learned to use weights when cutting out patterns years ago. Makes it so much easier than pins. Yours are the BEST—pretty to look at. Mine looked like miniature milk cans LOL!!! Next week, stop by and share this on my Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop? It will be a very pinnable hit with my readers. 🙂
