Be a Companion Caregiver

See how Sam’s Club helps you be a companion caregiver for family, friends, or neighbors.

I have a special elderly neighbor named Patty. She moved in about 10 years ago after her husband passed away. Patty is such a nice, friendly person.

Patty likes to know what is going on with all the neighbors. She provides our family peace of mind by keeping her eye out of her front window for anything out of the ordinary. She will give me a call whenever she has concerns.

Patty also likes to get out to meet the neighbors, but she has fallen while out in the neighborhood and broken bones. Now I am on alert and have become a senior caregiver for her.

What is a Companion Caregiver?

A companion caregiver is a form of care at home for older adults that want to retain their independence.

Several months ago I got a call from Patty’s sister stating that Patty had called her to say she was not feeling well and having trouble breathing. The sister was rushing over from across town but alerted me to go over.  I ran across the street as fast as I could to make sure she was OK.

Patty was having trouble breathing, so we called 911. She was taken to the hospital, where she was admitted. I am so thankful I had a key and reached her in time.

Patty’s family is concerned about her living alone, but having me across the street has brought them peace of mind.

Patty is very independent, but she still needs support. Her dog passed away last year and she really misses her.

She loves to go on walks with me and my dog. We walk together frequently as she builds her strength back up after her hospitalization.

Seniorcare for Neighbors

While I watch over Patty, I consider her a good friend. I want to make sure she’s taking proper care of herself, but I support her independence. She has many needs that I support her on. That includes picking up personal supplies for her at Sam’s Club.

Sam’s Club Caregiver Program

Did you know about Sam’s Club Caregiver Program? This caregiving program offers support to people who provide care for others, whether that’s patients, friends, and family members. Sam’s Club has the right assortment of essential products and additional online resources to support caregivers and those they care for. This include Ensure and other products. The program allows discreet shipping options and club pick-up.

I went to Sam’s Club recently and we picked up some Ensure for Patty. Her favorite is the vanilla flavor. Ensure Original is a complete balanced nutrition shake that helps with strength and energy. This is just what Patty needs to recover from her recent hospitalization.

Ensure is a complete, balanced nutrition shake. This #1 doctor-recommended brand is a great source of 24 essential vitamins and minerals. Sam’s Club carries Ensure Original and Ensure Plus in Vanilla and Chocolate.
Please contact a pharmacist at your local Sam’s Club if you have any questions.

Patty is like a mother to me, so it is important that I support her independence by being a caregiver.
