My daughter has been so busy with ballet this year that she has missed out on having playdates and sleepovers. She danced in The Nutcracker on her birthday, so she didn’t get a party this year. She has been begging me to have a slumber party to make up for missing a birthday celebration. We finally carved out a free night over the weekend to have a few girlfriends over. She still wanted to have a theme, so we came up with a game night that included their 18-inch dolls. We have a doll that looks like me, so I joined in the fun!

I asked my daughter what she wanted to play and she said video games and the Twister game. She said she’s never played the Twister game. I didn’t know how that was possible, but when I went to the closet where we keep games I discovered that we do not own the Twister game. I was shocked that we didn’t own this classic.

We headed to Walmart to shop for the game night. First, we headed to the games and toys section of the store and picked out the Twister game. My daughter was chomping at the bit to get home and begin playing it.

Snacks are a must with a slumber party so I headed over to the candy section at Walmart and picked up two huge bags of M&M’s®. Why did I pick M&M’s®? Four of their colors are the same colors at in the Twister game. I love plain M&M’s® Milk Chocolate, but decided it was time to try M&M’s® Peanut Butter too. They are REALLY good!! I pulled out the orange and brown, and just served the red, blue, yellow, and green M&M’s®.

Since her friends were bringing their 18-inch dolls over, she asked if we can create a game for the dolls to play. What a great idea! We decided the dolls needed their own Twister game. Here is how we created the game.

18-Inch Doll Twister Game

Supplies
foam board
foam sheets – red, blue, yellow, green
mini brad
cardstock
black marker
scissors
box cutters
round punch or circle stencil
pen
ruler
pony beads – 4 each of red, blue, yellow, green
hot glue gun

Directions

Cut a small square for the game spinner. I ended up making mine 3″ square.
Create a spinner by coloring a small piece of white cardstock black with a marker. Cut it about an inch long with a point at the end.
Attach the spinner to the middle of the spinner square using a small brad.
Attach the small circles to the spinner board. I thought I was going to cut or punch out small circles but ended up hot gluing pony beads to the spinner.

Using a ruler or large straight edge, mark the cutting line for the game board. A standard foam board is 20″ x 30″. I cut our board to be 20″ x 17″.
Carefully cut along that line with box cutters.
Cut out six circles from each foam sheet. You can use a round punch or cut them out by hand. I ended up using a lid from a small container that was slightly over 2″ across to mark my circles, and then I cut them out.
Glue the circles in place on the game board, evenly spacing them out.

This was so much fun to make and it turned out really cute! I love how the M&M’s® match the Twister game.

The girls enjoyed playing the Twister game while the dolls enjoyed their own version.
