Here is an old family recipe for Turtle Cake from a neighbor of mine. It’s super tasty and easy to make!
It’s been quite a while since I posted a recipe that I got from my friend, Hilda. This is the last of the recipes I got from her over the summer. Now she’s gone to Florida for the winter, so I won’t be getting any more recipes for a while. In case you missed the other family recipes she shared, here they are: Rhubarb Cream Cake Coconut Poke Cake Vegetable Salad Dip.
I love recipes like this that take a cake mix, add ingredients, and elevate it to something extraordinary. This utilizes a devil’s food mix and adds in more chocolate, pecans, and caramel. Not exactly shaped like turtle candies, but just as tasty!
- 1 chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 cups of butter, melted
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 cup pecans
- 1 cup chocolate pieces
- 1 bag of caramels, 11 oz.
Here is a close-up of what it looks like baked. It’s got a gooey thickness like a brownie. My mouth is drooling as I write this up. I guess I just need to make it again soon.
How easy is that? I’ve never seen this recipe before. I’ve made it a few times and gotten rave reviews.
I served it with a little caramel on top and it was divine. I just love the combo of chocolate and caramel, with the crunchiness of the pecans. YUM!
