I love Pinterest! Learn how Pinterest has helped increase my blog traffic and how I automate my Pinterest marketing with the Tailwind App.
My Pinterest Marketing Strategy
Pinterest is my top referrer. It brings a lot of traffic to my blog. As you can see in my Google Analytics below its over 90% of my social network traffic. It’s really spiked lately with my Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day posts. I make sure to regulary look at the social medial analysis on Google Analytics, Pinterest, and Tailwind to track my site’s performance.
Over the past few months, I’ve really concentrated on sharing my content on Pinterest as much as possible. I’m active on several group Pinterest boards, of which I share my content with. I also actively share other people’s content on my boards. Not only has this all improved my referral traffic, it’s increased my Pinterest followers.
I am by no means an expert about marketing on Pinterest. In fact, I have taken classes at Strategic Blogging Academy and read many posts about how Pinterest has helped other bloggers to learn as much as I can. Still, I want to share what has worked for me. The key has been consistency using Pinterest. I have so many pins to share and so many boards that I contribute to, that it has been overwhelming at times. I have dealt with that bogged down feeling by using the Tailwind App.

What is Tailwind? It is a Pinterest marketing, scheduling, and analytics tool. Tailwind App also works with Instagram, but I just concentrate on Pinterest side of it. The Tailwind Scheduler helps me stay organized on Pinterest. Scheduling using Tailwind is easy! You just hover over the image you want to pin within a post and click on the Schedule button in the lower left corner. A Tailwind window will pop up, where you add the board you want to pin the image to. Then you click the Add to Queue Now button (cut off in my image) and your pin will be added to Your Schedule. Tailwind gives you the option to pick your pin time and schedule a pin in batches. You can schedule a repin too.
After using Tailwind for a little bit, it will use your analytics to optimize performance. It will give you suggested time slots to add to your pin schedule. I’ve used this to increase my slots to 90 a day.
The main way I have stayed organized with Tailwind is by using the Board Lists. I have organized all the Pinterest Boards I contribute to onto lists. When I post a new recipe, I will pin it to my own blog recipe board. Then I will schedule that pin into my All Food List and the 30+ boards will show up in the pin box. I utilize the Interval function to pin it on a schedule, which I am able to adjust how I want. My very favorite part is that Tailwind will let me know if I have already pinned to a board.
Tailwind also has Tribes. Tribes are gatherings of like-minded bloggers sharing one another’s content. This is a great way to get even more exposure for your posts. Tribes are currently free for anyone to use, so sign up for a Free Trial of Tailwind now and check it out.
