Learn how you can get fit and lose weight with Pokémon GO.So you’ve heard about the accidents and injuries that people have sustained playing Pokémon GO. You read those stories and think how stupid is it that people are hurting themselves to play a dumb phone game. It’s actually possible to play smart, not get hurt AND get fit in the process. The loading screen warns you to play safe!Pokémon GO is great for getting exercise! The game can be played if you drive around from spot to spot, but you aren’t going to catch many Pocket Monsters that way. My daughter will play in the back seat while I drive somewhere, but she only ends up getting a few poke balls and other items at Poke Stops. You’ve actually got to pound the pavement to get much of anything.
Pokémon GO Fitness Program
In the game, players earn eggs. Those eggs are cultivated in incubators. Each egg has a distance assigned to it. It could be 2km, 5km or even 10km. You have to walk that distance to mature and hatch those eggs. The game knows if you are moving in a car and you won’t record your distance. My son rides his long board quite a bit and says that he has to be on the slow side for it register. It seems to be the same way with a bicycle. But bicycle and skateboard are exercises, so if those register distance then it’s a win-win. Get moving and hatch those eggs! Walking the dog is a perfect way to get your km.
Lose Weight with Pokémon GO
I do notice that when we are in full hunt mode that we are at a slower pace than I usually walk. Most people don’t walk as much as I do, so their pace doesn’t matter. They are out and walking. When a person who doesn’t exercise at all starts playing Pokémon GO, they are likely to lose weight from the new movement they are taking. I hear people say that their kid just wants to stay inside and play video games all the time. Have them get out and play a video game and get exercise! Have them turn that obsession into fitness! Please make sure to take safety steps.
Get More Daily Steps with Pokémon GO
I would love to see a partnership between Fitbit or other fitness trackers and Pokémon GO. How fun would it be to earn something extra when you sync up? I also would like to see the rarer Pokemon appear to people who have been getting a lot of steps or in places that people really have to trek to. I’m sure not all would agree with me, but I just want people to get out and move!
