It is time for a new year of Girl Scouts and it is time that all my scouts learn the Law.

What is the Girl Scout Law?

The Girl Scout Law is the ten guiding principles of scouts.

I will do my best to be

    honest and fair,

    friendly and helpful,

    considerate and caring,

    courageous and strong, and

responsible for what I say and do,

and to

    respect myself and others,

    respect authority,

    use resources wisely,

make the world a better place, and

be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Learning the Scout Law

Do you remember memorizing the Girl Scout Law when you were younger? I remember how much I struggled to learn the 10 parts when our troop did Girl Scout law activities. I also remember learning the song Make New Friends.

Here is a freebie download to help your girls have fun learning the law. Each law is color-coded, which will assist your scouts in learning them all. The colors match the colors of the petals from the Daisy emblem. Did you even know that is how they came up with the Daisy logo?

The download includes a game board and the game pieces. I purchased glass gems and dice from a dollar store to complete the game. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for the download button.

I laminated the game board and cut up the game cards.

Our first meeting of the year is this week and each girl will get a baggie with the game cards, 4 gem game pieces, and 2 dice.

There are no instructions included with this game. Just like the Girl Scout Cookie Time Game, I created earlier this year, this game is designed for the scouts to create the instructions for.

The overall objective is for them to learn the ten parts of the Girl Scout Law, but the girls need to use thinking skills to create the steps. When they have learned the law, celebrate with a Girl Scout Tie-Dye Party and Homemade Thin Mint Cookies.

If you have a larger group or younger scouts then you might just provide them with instructions that you create.

I would love some feedback on what instructions your girls created!

Updated: Suggestions for use include matching the blanks of each color and reciting the corresponding law or having all game pieces upside down and reciting the law when that color is picked.

Thank you!!! I going to try this next Tuesday with my girl scouts. I have daisy and brownies and help my sister with Jr's so hoping the older ones can help the younger ones. I think they will all have fun. Just got to do a lot of games at once since we have so many girls. This makes me look even more forward to having my own baby due in July :) and her getting in girl scouts as soon as possible!

This is awesome!! I just might tweak it for cub scouts and use it for my little guy. (I am a GS member for life and miss my girls being in girl scouts, they've now outgrown it but now I've got younger boys)

Have others tried using this game? I would love to be able to share some ideas on how to use the board with leaders.

My girls decided to write 1-10 on the extra colored game pieces so that they could learn the order of the law. They took turns with the plain & numbered blanks with the law names and set it up as a memory game. When they got a match they rolled one die and moved forward those spaces. They didn't get to the end of the board, so they reshuffled the cards to make matches a second time.
