It’s playoff time, and excitement is in the air! We love to have people over for a football watch party to cheer on our favorite teams.

What does every football party need? Great friends and great food, such as Bacon Jalapeno Mac & Cheese Cups.

We host a spectacular bowl party each year, so I decided to celebrate with my own DIY snack stadium kit.

DIY Football Snack Stadium

When I sat down to design the snack stadium, I was unsure what size to make it. I realized that size hinged on the materials I used. I considered a wood stadium, but that would make for a heavy stadium and require painting.

You all know that I am a simple kind of gal, so I wanted my stadium to be easy.

I decided to use white foam boards. They are light, easy to cut, and make for easy storage. The standard size of a foam board is 20″ x 30″, so I knew my size limits. I grabbed some graph paper and started designing.

While you could design your own stadium, why don’t you follow my directions? I am happy to share it with you!

How to Build a Snack Stadium

There are four main steps for creating a football snack arena:

  1. Mark the pattern pieces and cut everything out.
  2. Assembling the stadium.
  3. Decorating the arena.
  4. Fill the stadium with your favorite snacks.

The Project Pieces

The first step is to mark the pattern pieces on the foam board and cut them out. You can find the specific piece sizes in the detailed directions at the bottom of this post.

Free Snackadium Football Decorations

I began thinking of how I wanted to decorate the snack stadium. There is a large printing machine that makes 11″ x 17″ prints that I have access to, so I created large graphics.

I cut them in half so they can be printed on a standard printer.

I am offering both the 11″ x 17″ and 8.5″ x 11″ graphics as a free download at the bottom of this post so that you can print and decorate your own stadium.

Assemble the Football Arena

This project is held together with tape. I started with small pieces of white utility tape to hold parts in place. Once the placement was right, I returned and covered all the edges with large pieces of tape.

Add the Decorations

Now, it is time to decorate the project. I used regular clear tape to attach the decorations. Use the decorations linked in the directions below, or create your own. You can also grab cupcake toppers for all the league teams.

What to put in a Snack Coliseum

Here is how I filled my stadium:

  • Your Favorite Team Snack Mix is a must!
  • I created Skittles Candy Bark and placed it in the end zone. (recipe below)
  • I opened a jar of salsa and placed it in the middle of the sidelines. Tortilla chips filled the space on each side of the salsa.
  • I opened a jar of queso and placed it on the other side of the stadium, flanked by scoopable chips.
  • Candies were put in the corners.
  • Bottles of soda were placed on the outside corners of the stadium.
  • Football players were created with mini chocolate candies and soft taffy candies. I unwrapped red and yellow soft taffy candies and microwaved them for about 3 seconds to soften. I cut each in half, rolled each into a little round helmet shape, and placed it on unwrapped chocolate. The helmets stuck to the chocolate as it hardened.

Skittles Bark Recipe

This simple recipe only requires Skittles Candy and White Candy Melts.

Instructions

Melt the package of white candy melts according to the package directions.
Pour the melted candy onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or a silicone liner.
Generously sprinkle the Skittles onto the bark.
Place in refrigerator to harden.
Break into small pieces to create the bark.

My kids loved the Skittle bark! I like how it looked like fans sitting in the endzone of my snack stadium.

This DIY snack stadium was a lot of fun to make. I can’t wait to use it at our Big Game party! I have also created football party decorations that you can get for free.

Have you ever made a snack stadium? I have also made a Baseball Snack Stadium.

Instructions

  1. Download and print the Snackadium printables in full color.
    8.5x11 decorations - download here
    11x17 decorations - download here
  2. Using your straight edge, mark the pattern on the foam board. You need the following pieces:
    A (2) 11" x 3" (inside end zone)
    B (2) 18" x 3" (inside sideline)
    C (2) 11" x 6" (outsize end zone)
    D (2) 18" x 6" (outside sideline)
E (8) half of 4" x 9" (diagonal supports) - diagonal cut goes from 3" in on one end to 3" in on the other
    F (4) 6" x 6" (outside corners)
optional: X1 (4) half of 6" x 4" (inside brace for end zone) - diagonal cut goes from 2" in on one end to 2" in on the other
    optional: X2 (2) 11" x 5" (inside platform for end zone)
  3. Use your utility cutter to carefully cut out the foam stadium pieces along the marked lines.
  4. Cut out stadium decorations.
  5. Assemble your snack stadium as follows:
Attach pieces A & B to form the inside walls of the stadium.
Attach pieces E to each corner.
Attach pieces C & D to create the outside walls of the stadium.
Attach pieces F to the outside corners to finish off the stadium structure.
Optional: Attach pieces X1 & X2 for the inside platform if desired. We had to trim these slightly for them to fit.
  6. Hold the edges of the stadium together and in place with white utility tape. I put it together with small pieces of tape and then returned and used bigger pieces of tape to make the corner edges nicer.
  7. Decorate your snack stadium. I attached the pennants to the baker's twine and strung it between skewers stuck into the outside edge.
  8. Add your snacks and party!

Notes

Keep and reuse this Football Snack Stadium year after year!

This photo shows how I reused it using different snacks.

Thank you for sharing your pattern. It is exactly what we were looking for; however, I am unable to locate the link for the stadium printables. I see where the link should be, but it appears to have been removed. Any suggestions as to where I can go to get decorations for my cool stadium?

Hi! Im working on a school project and found this the perfect setup for a stadium. Thank you so much for posting this! I don't know what id do without it. just one quick question:how do you make pieces "E"? I tried, but in the description, it doesn't specify what sizes to make piece "E" very well. If you could tell me exactly how to make them, I would very much appreciate it. Thank You!

The main thing that I do not know is the L x W of the original big rectangle, and where to make the cuts in the big triangle (The angle and spot to make the slanted cut).

I just found your video on YouTube. Like you, I've been looking for an easy way to make a snackadium. Until now, the easiest method I found was magazine holders. Fairly cheap and simple to assemble, but their tall, skinny size makes it difficult to fill with snacks and access them. Using foam board is GENIUS! Will be making one of these this season!

I am glad you like it. I also made a basketball stadium that you should check out. I am saving this stadium to use again next year! Football season starts soon. Thanks for stopping and commenting.
