Here is my 2nd campfire recipe from this summer that I want to share with you. While we make this in a dutch oven, I think it would turn out just as well in a regular oven. Let me tell you, this chocolate cake was just about the best we’ve ever had. We had made some dutch oven brownies earlier in the trip and they just didn’t turn out well, so I knew that I needed to add something to this cake mix to spice it up. Mini marshmallows & chocolate chips came to mind. They gave this cake a gooey wow factor. We will definitely be making this again!

Can of Lemon-Lime Soda
Directions Create hot coals for the dutch oven. Line the dutch
oven with foil and spray with some cooking spray. Mix the cake mix & soda together. Fold in the chocolate chips & mini marshmallows. We used about a half a bag of chips and about a 1/3 a bag of the mallows.
Spread the batter into a foil-lined dutch oven that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Place lid on dutch oven, cover with coals, and bake for 24-30 minutes
depending on your heat. We could smell a really strong baked chocolate smell when we
pulled it out at 29 minutes. Time will vary depending on the size of your dutch oven & heat of the coals.
Look at the height on that cake! We were AMAZED at how tall it was. It was so moist! Very gooey where the chocolate chips & marshmallows were.
We all dug in and this is what was left. It was divine!!!
